It can give the student the ease and facility to find the resources needed at his fingertips. At the same time it can be very un-constructive for a student if he or she uses technology in a classroom for entertainment and media. While most schools and universities do a very good job in filtering their systems so that students do not access these websites, student always find a way to get to them. The Disney Corporation has in many ways infiltrated American culture. What was once a small business has grown into the world’s largest media and entertainment syndicate in relation to their revenue, which in 2010 was $38,063 million (Disney 2010 fourth quarter). The Watergate Affair Essays - Watergate Scandal, United States

The Watergate Affair The Watergate affair was the most significant scandal in United States governmental history. Watergate is defined as a scandal involving abuse of power by public officials, violation of the public trust, and attempted obstruction of justice. The Watergate scandal is named after the building complex in Washington D.C., which was the site of the illegal activities that took place in 1972. In this essay I will explain what Watergate was, a few of the key players (many too numerous to mention), and the end result of the people involved. Watergate all started on June 17, 1972 when five men attempted to break in to the Democratic national headquarters in Washington's Watergate complex. The men were arrested after police were notified from a security guard, and were in possession of cameras and electronic surveillance equipment. They were suspected of attempting to tap the telephones there in order to gain the upper-hand information of the Democratic campaign. The men were tried and convicted in a federal court, but the judge, John Sirica suspected the major cover-up of a possible national conspiracy. Sirica later received a letter from one of the burglars, James McCord which stated that there was definitely a cover-up. This letter led to a nationwide eruption and the trust and tolerance for politicians greatly declined. The five burglars were sent to jail in January of 1973. White House counsel John Dean attempted to buy the men's silence with 400,000 dollars of ?hush? money and the possibility of presidential pardons. Instead the burglars began to talk and the Nixon administration was being pushed against a wall. A separate committee was started to investigate and John Dean began to sweat. Dean told Nixon that (in my revised words) ?We're in deep crap?. Nixon sensed that his high officials were going to break at any moment so he fired Dean, chief domestic advisor John Ehrlichman, and White House Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman. Televised hearings later followed and the whole dirt was brought out. John Dean, the former White House counsel, stated in court that members of the Nixon administration, notably Attorney General John Mitchell, had known of the burglary. The hearings also revealed the Nixon has previously taped conversations in the Oval Office, and when the special prosecutor Archibald Cox requested these tapes, Nixon fired him. Cox made great strides in uncovering major evidence of a political espionage by the Nixon administration. He uncovered evidence of bribery for corporate contributions to Nixon in return for political favors, and illegal wiretapping of citizens. The uncovering of the corporate contributions led to the passing of the Election Reform Act which limits a candidate to spending 20 million dollars on a bid for election or re-election. It also regulated the amount an individual may contribute to campaign funds to 1,000 dollars. During the investigation, the testimony of White House aide Alexander Butterfield really created a light for the prosecution. Butterfield told the committee that Nixon had ordered that a taping system to be installed in the White House to record all conversations. These are the events that led to Coxs dismissal. After Butterfield's testimony, Cox demanded eight relevant tapes in which Nixon refused to hand over. His excuse was that the tapes were vital to national security. (The only thing they were vital to was the skin on his rear end) Nixon then told Attorney General Elliot Richardson to dismiss Cox, but Richardson refused and resigned, as did Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus. Cox's successor, Leon Jaworski was appointed by Nixon and was given the tapes, and Jaworski gave the tapes to Judge Sirica. Some of the tapes were missing and one of the tapes had a mysterious 18? minute gap. The gap was part of five separate erasures. Although the tapes, the break-in, and the cover up were a large part of the Watergate affair, they were not all of it. During Nixon's term the government was very secretive and this was a result of Nixon's ways. Before all of the break-in stories, there were other issues questioning Nixon's morals. During my high school years, I interacted with many teachers who gave me insight into this career. My teachers really encouraged me to follow my passion as one is only able to succeed by following his/her interest. Apart from this, I attended m any career talks during my high school years which gave more knowledge concerning career choices. My race as a white would influence my teaching because I intend to work in a white dominated region of this country. As a result of this, I would not have any problem adjusting due to possible constrains that may come as a result of racial discrimination. Being from another race in the region would be challenging for anyone who is beginning to teach as there are no constrains due to racial prejudice. My being white would also enable me fit well in the area I intend to teach in the sense that I will be teaching children who do not have diverse cultures. Teaching becomes especially challenging when one meets students of various cultures and as a result of this, it becomes important to alter teaching methods so as to accommodate all cultures. My female gender is also a bonus in teaching since in nature; the feminine gender is regarded as being the one with a calm, kind and patient nature as compared to the masculine gender. As a female, I would be patient and accommodating when it comes to the handling of student affairs. This is a bonus in the teaching process since handling of student affairs requires patience and understanding. As a female also, there are motherly instincts in me which would ensure that I treat all students like my own children. By so doing, it would be possible to address all student affairs effectively to the satisfaction of students. By hailing from a middle class family, it has assisted me in my career as I have not lacked any resources for pursuing my career in teaching. There are many people who aspire to be the best teachers but the limitedness or inadequacy of resources has hindered them from pursuing the career effectively. My fee has always paid my fees in time and I have received the necessary academic books and documentations that has enabled me study with ease. Besides, I have been able to attend all academic trips and workshops concerning teaching ever since I was in high school. By having the necessary financial and emotional support from my family members, I have been able to acquire a potent teacher identity as I have not studied with any difficulties or distractions. Besides, my mother and father have always been there to answer all my questions concerning teaching and in cases where I have faced challenges, they have managed to guide me and advise me well. I am, therefore, equipped fully on the ex pectations of being a teacher and potential challenges. I do not have much experience in teaching, but I have slight experience from my vacations and post high school years. After my high school, I requested the principal of the nearest school to offer me a chance to teach for free. The 6 month experience I got from this teaching has assisted me by enhancing my confidence. When a friend of mine was absent in her elementary school some years back, I requested to take some of her lessons which has further enhanced my teaching experience. I can, therefore, say that I have noteworthy teaching identity due to the slight experience that I have gained over the years. I would, hence, never, have a difficult time teaching students as I have experienced it before and any jitters that I previously had are no longer there. I am a courageous, industrious and aggressive character and from these traits, I believe I would succeed in teaching. Effective teachers are courageous because it requires massive courage to stand in front of a mass of students and pass knowledge. Panicking in front of students will not make an effective teacher. Over the years, I have been courageous in my decisions and I believe this attribute would take me far in the teaching profession. My industry would impact on my teaching positively since industry is a recipe for success in any career. Teaching requires extreme industry since the process of dealing with students is a tedious and exhausting venture. Making students pass would further require an industrious teacher, and. I therefore, strongly believe that my attributes would assist me catalyze student success. I am also a principled character who stands by what I believe without being swayed by public opinion. These traits would assist me in my teaching since teaching requires one to make swift and upright judgment without being influenced. Students would not have a problem with me because my judgment would be impartial without favoring anyone. By being a firm teacher, the management would respect my decisions and opinions. Teachers who are easily swayed by the management do not make efficient tutors since the management can make them support a wrong deed for the well of the school while displeasing parents and pupils alike. I would not want students and parents to have such opinions about me; hence, I would always strive to do deeds that are right without favoring anyone. Therefore, these attributes would spur me to succeed in the teaching profession. My surrounding community is comprised of hardworking and successful people, and this culture over the years has spurred hard work and indus try in me. The roles of nurses have expanded because they carry out multiple roles in healthcare. In this paper I will discuss on Professional boundaries in my workplace context. If we look around us, we will see that every living being has its own limit and bound by its own territory in which it dwell and defend against any sort of invasion. Boundaries have it own fundamental place in life. It fundamental that even criminals who thrive on violating the integrity of others have their own boundaries. Unlike the law, which is absolute, rules allow things to function smoothly because everyone within a particular context agrees upon it. Rules can refer to a game or office procedures. Our moral values provide our own internal guidance about what is wrong or what is not in sense of good value, stated; Raymond Lloyd (2009). Im a qualified registered nurse, working in Emergency and Trauma Department (ED), ED provides 24 hours emergency care. Operating twenty-four hours, my ED provides the different level of care and patient needs and it also provides a comprehensive service which includes pre-hospital resuscitation, stabilization and definitive care. Service also includes Disaster Management, Domestic Violence, and Emergency Medicine. The purpose of this paper is to access the professional boundaries of roles and practice between nurses and doctors at Emergency and Trauma Department. In this paper, I will highlight and analyzed the concept of boundaries and contextualize the theory in the political context of professions, the nature of the professional relationship, provides information to help members recognize potential crisis situations, debate issues of boundaries evidence within my practice and suggests some strategies in managing professional boundaries on defibrillator. Occasionally, most of the nurses in my ED today are still nurses seemed uncertain about the limitation or boundary of their own work. But, sometimes boundaries are often consider not clear-cut issue of right or wrong. Its dependent upon numerous factors and required careful thinking through of all the issue, always keeps in mind that all action must be in the best interest of patient care. All the staffs in ED are required to take Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Why we need this training? Because its involves advanced medical skills, certification and training. Is purposely offered for medical professionals such as doctor, assistant medical officer (AMO) and nurses, since lay public do not have the necessary knowledge and skills except for BLS where lay public can go for training but in different syllabus compared to health care provider. Although, ED staff especially nurses and AMO underwent the training and qualified, pass the courses in theory and practically. It still not a ticket for them to ride in fast lane because, they must be well trained, recertification and monitored by experienced support staff such as nurses or AMO, senior doctor or specialist. Why we still have to be monitored? Because, from my experience although the doctor pertain his MBBS (in  Latin  Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of surgery) from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, (2010) but he or she still new in service, some are still not competent to use the defibrillator machine. Sometimes doctors also required to attend this short-course of BLS, ACLS or PALS because anyone whos works in ED must to be well trained with these courses. Example like in resuscitation, the goal of  ACLS  is to begin and identify what is wrong with the patient and when it is the best time can perform defibrillators to patient and also a long term treatment plan can be created.  These short-courses  guidelines are constantly changing, due to new information in the medical field, and frequent (every 5 year for ACLS, PALS and 3 years for BLS) as these standard guidelines provided by Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia, recertification is required for each personal after they are certified. Recertification also ensures that the material is always fresh, so that a healthcare provider or ED staff can confidently make the right decision in a critical moment. As a trained nurse at ED, providing encompasses and comprehensive treatment plan is essential step whereby sometimes I have to perform defibrillation when a patient having ventricular tachycardia (VT) with hemodynamical instability in order for proper treatment plans. My workplace environment is dedicated and confined to the critically ill patients with unstable hemodynamic and in need of urgent emergency life saving treatment which stipulates that all trauma patients requiring prompt and urgent treatment within a prescribed and stipulated time is observed strictly.   My ED, nurses do defibrillation because of the recertification and trust gain from senior doctors and specialist or consultant. According to General Medical Council (2001), doctor can delegate medical care to nurses, or AMO if they had the trust and believe it is the best for the patients but in count that the nurses must experienced and competent person. Unfortunately, some doctors always take an advantage of this procedure because of some nurses are seemed uncertain about their own limitation or boundaries of working practice. Usually this procedure should be performed by them instead of nurses. Perform defibrillation to patient has been commonly practiced by most of the senior nurses and this knowledge have been past down to new intern; I meant the newly in service staff nurse. It seems likely this positive act becoming norm, among the nurses and other paramedic especially in ED. As describe by Burkhdart Nathaniel (2008), different culture have it own different approach by intera cting individual, consisting of learned pattern of values, belief, behaviour and custom shared by the group. My ED is interdisciplinary department multidisciplines. These approaches change the professional boundaries. As define by Avis, Drysdale, Gregg, Neufeldt Scargill (1983), professional boundaries is a behaviours where by boundaries are crossed. Boundary includes the concept of limits, lines or borders. Boundary can be crossed, can be violated, or misconduct can come to mind. Crossing of a boundary involves a brief act or behaviour outside of the helpful zone. See appendix. Apparently, it divided into two substitution which is vertical substitution and horizontal substitution. The vertical of my workplace is by hierarchy starting from top to bottom. Examples as specialist is the highest of the hierarchy give order to hierarchy below them like medical officer and the order move on till the lowest hierarchy. See appendix. While the horizontal substitution is the interaction between workers in same phase or level. Examples like para-professional (Nurses, AMO, Cardiovascular Technician), where both are in same a group who had a similar roles and same hierarchy grade. Therefore in emergency situation, performing defibrillation the act just dont bound on doctor shoulder only. It can be either nurses or AMO, using their expertise and clinical judgments in diagnosed and to save patient life. As these working boundaries happen in my ED, realized it or not these act has an impact towards the patient. ED is a unique place for clinical experience where most of the cases are sudden or unexpected incident that requires immediate attention and need the staff on high alert in providing fast and effective care as well as treated according to their severity. Unfortunately, it hard for new doctor to conduct the situation without any experience. In addition, the aim of my workplace is to become an excellent working env ironment and culture through suitable working conditions, teaching and humanistic approach for all new staff in every categories will failed if the competency, skill and knowledge of new staff is doubted in performing the procedure. The reason to have a standard guideline in ED is to provide professional guidance in making decisions with specific practice, according to their severity. While allowing flexibility in professional judgment and meets Nursing and Midwifery Board Malaysia criteria for guideline development for a safe standard of practice and facilitate the  nursing profession to demonstrate responsibility and accountability in practice. To uphold a high standard of safe nursing care by competent and caring nurses through the implementation of regulatory processes and code of conduct established in Nursing Act 1950. The disadvantage in my unit is the shortage of doctor in recovery area, where their present is do come helpful if the patient place at recovery develop complication such as VT. As experienced nurse, providing an excellent work and comprehensive service with the knowledge and skill can make me become autonomous. The patient who are acutely ill were not being assessed and treated quickly eno ugh, it will deteriorate their condition, Norris Melby (2005). Since the workload in ED increases prior to the amount of a patient had burden the existing nurses role in ED. Sometimes situation at ED a bit chaos with multiple task had to be done at the same time such as; had to be chaperon, send blood specimen to Lab, send patient for X-Ray and as well as documented patient data since ED operates, based on the Total Hospital Information System  (T.H.I.S.). ENB/DoH (2001) explained, in accessing the effectiveness management of information and associated technology which is now part of patient and client care management. Meanwhile, the doctor are facing the same issue as their also had a shortage issue of working personnel. This impact the excellent service provided in patient care due to load of workload. According to Halcomb et al (2002), in term of cost to the health system, workforce implication and value to consumer, alternate cause to the nurse and paramedic should be explored. Therefore the nurses manager in my unit should encourage each staff to attend courses to increase each knowledges especially in cardiac care management. It means it is the responsibility of the nurse to maintain their professional and personal boundaries, in the best interest of patient. Although it is important to understand each professions roles and responsibilities, as well as areas of conflict and disagreement, it is the mutual understanding of nurses and doctors will lead, the way to true clinical collaborative in ED. The nature of emergency practice makes it even more vital towards communicate and clarify the ways in which, relationship can be affected by vibrant relations in provide fast and effective patient friendly services for our patients, their family and the community within excellent working culture and humanistic approach.

On Classical Music, Heavy Metal, and Parenting You know, much to my parents’ chagrin, I used to hate classical music. In retrospect it makes perfect sense. I would get up on weekends, and when I’d come downstairs, instead of being whisked away by the light, airy strings of The Red Priest, I would instead be jolted awake by the sound of my dog’s howling. Soon thereafter we got a second dog, and then, not only were the decibels doubled, but the howling of two dogs would beat together as their respective sound waves mingled. Maybe I never liked the music itself. Too soft, too boring. However, I’ll conveniently absolve myself of guilt and say that I hated the music because it was too often complemented by the throbbing beat of my dogs’ objection. I mean really, dogs have no shame. I took piano lessons for six years. Rather, they made me take them. This was not a voluntary undertaking. Ironically enough, that seemed to help very little to further what should have been love for the classical. No, I wasn’t studying Jazz piano. I was very much ensconced in the works of Bach, Chopin, Bartok and the like. I practiced a lot. I suppose that I should also mention the fact that I couldn’t play the instrument, and that my technical control over it wasn’t worth a damn. My teacher, who was and still is a wonderful woman, would sign me up for piano examinations. They were like aptitude tests. I would play before a judge, and in addition to memorizing and playing a few pieces, I would also be asked to bang out scales and progressions that I was expected to know. Which I didn’t. It was hard to become fond of such music when I began to associate it with recitation, obligation, and the cruel, brutally honest judgment of my abilities, that glorious, r ipe fruit of my toils. I think the judges would pass me because they felt sorry for me. My musical tastes went through a few unfortunate years. My parents openly refused to take my musical sensibility seriously. They thought I was a joke, and with unwavering stubbornness, and I suppose ignorance, I would pitch my nose in the air, insisting no no, this really is good music. In an effort to distance myself from what I thought was the pretentious, classical bore, I moved to the other side of the continuum, and discovered grunge and alternative rock, a musical genre that deliberately attempted to be non-musical and crude.

Antigone’s Lawyer Today is the day that you can make the decision to let an innocent woman live. My client is not a criminal in any sense. She is of royal decent, and decent in every way possible. How she thought that she could do whatever she wanted, and laws had no significance. I also accused her of being a â€Å"filthy lawbreaker†. Basically, I tried to persuade the jury that Antigone had not cared for laws, breaking them at her own will. On the other hand, on Antigone’s side, I argued that Antigone was not at all a criminal, just a caring sister. I went to show how Polyneices was just fighting for what was rightfully his, and this did not make him a traitor. I also argued how Creon thinks he is more important that the holy laws.

They also recommended a prospective study to confirm such findings. The effectiveness and benefits of immobilization of the spine depends on the perfection in application of the immobilization technique. Peery et al (2007) conducted a study to assess and examine the quality of long spine board spinal immobilization in patients presenting to the emergency room via emergency medical service. During examination, evaluation of the location and number of the restraining straps and also their degree of tightness was done. 50 patients were included in the study. 30 percent of these had atleast one unattached tape to attach head to the board. Also, 88 percent had more than 2 cm slack between the body. This study draws evidence that im mobilization is not done well in emergency medical service and better measures and protocols need to be drawn for improved immobilization. Thus, even though spinal immobilization may provide genuine benefits, they be lost due to poor application. Generally, immobilization of spine consists of a cervical collar that supports either side of the head, and the long and short back boards which have straps attached to them to immobilize the rest of the body. With regard to the boards, there is lot of controversy whether long boards are superior to short boards. According to Cline (1985; cited in AANS, 2001 ), short boards are superior to cervical collar alone. Mozalewski (cited in AANS, 2001 ) opined that unless the motion of trunk also was minimized along with motion of head, spine immobilization was ineffective. The literature review by AANS (2001) drew some implications about spine immobilization practices in an emergency setting. The review opines that studies pertaining to spinal imm obilization are limited because none of the studies actually evaluate the full range of available devices. Compare Only the wall by Matthew Sweeney and Mirror by Sylvia Plath. Poem Comparison. I am going to compare two poems "Only the wall" by Matthew Sweeney and "Mirror" by Sylvia Plath. Both poems are similar as they both use personification. The poem "Only the wall" has the wall, which is personified as the wall is seeing what is happening, but cannot tell anyone. The poem "Mirror" has the mirror, which is personified, as the poem shows what the mirror sees. The poem mirror is about a mirror and a woman who is obsessed with the mirror. The mirror says it does not lie it just tells the truth. "I am not cruel only truthful" This tells you the mirror does not lie it shows the truth even though it might hurt and that it cannot judge how someone looks. In the second stanza the mirror begins to feel sorry for the woman. "I see her back and reflect it faithfully. She rewards me with tears and an agnation of the hands." This tells you how the mirror sees the woman's ugly face everyday and how the mirror sees the woman upset with the way she looks. The mirror is also upset, as it does not mean to upset her, but it can only show the truth. The mood of the poem is sad. "In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman rises towards her day after day, like a terrible fish." This tells how sad she is especially when she goes to the mirror and sees how her beauty has died away. The way the poem has been structured is the first stanza is about the mirror and the second stanza is about the woman. The poet's idea is trying to make us think about how people care so much about how they look. "I am important to her. She comes and goes. Each morning her face replaces the darkness." This tells us that the woman is maybe upset with the way she looks and how the mirror is really important because she wishes that she could be young and pretty again. Overall I think this poem was sad as it made me feel sorry for the woman. Also at first I found it hard to understand. The second poem has a different subject to the first poem. The first poem is about a woman looking in the mirror and the second poem is about a wall watching three bullies bullying a boy. For example: "The first day only the wall saw the bully trip the new boy" This line tells us that on the new boys fist day only the wall saw
